Dodging raindrops, we spent last week delivering honey, grading bees for almond pollination, and introducing a new puppy to life as a bee dog.

Honey For Community

Our mission at Broken River Apiaries is to connect our community to our food, our bushlands and each other through honey. This week marks the first official location where your honey purchase helps support community causes. In partnership with our good friends at Benalla Veterinary Clinic, $1 of every 500 gram honey jar is donated to Benalla Wildlife Rescue. Pop in and say hi and grab a pot of Red Stringybark honey!!

Almond Pollination

Our second big task currently is grading and prepping our hives for Almond pollination. Bees will be loaded on semi truck in two weeks and make their way Boundary Bend for an early spring feast. The bees are in excellent condition despite a pretty crap past 18 months here in Northeast Victoria. This year bringing Varroa back to our region is a definite. We are ready. Hello Stella!

And lastly, we are pleased to introduce the world to our new pup Stella, a blue heeler from Parkes, NSW. We've started introducing her to bees early and she has found her happy place on the driver's seat of the truck chewing on sticks. Welcome to the best life little Stella!
