Our Story
We aren't your average honey producers- in fact honey is a happy by product of what we actually do- make amazing bees! Our main area of specialisation is bee breeding- basically helping bees be the healthy, strong, productive, gentle, cuddly creatures that they naturally are. Our research and development branch, Bee Scientifics, handles all of the queen sales and research questions while Broken River Apiaries just gets to take care of these amazing bees and produce honey for our friends and neighbours in Benalla. It's a win win!
Our journey began with a passion for science and a fascination for small creatures that have a huge impact on the world around them. Our commitment to community connection and science based beekeeping practices sets us apart. We strive to create a buzz about the importance of bees and the delicious, natural products they provide. At Broken River Apiaries, we are more than just beekeepers – we are scientists, local lovers, and food and nature enthusiasts. Thanks for visiting and taking time to learn more about what we do. I have been fortunate to work with honey bees for the last 20 years. The most valuable lessons I've learned is to listen more, think less, and the greatest success comes when we work with the nature of the bees, of the environment, and of our selves.
